Why NewFuture
Life keeps getting more expensive, and many of the systems we rely on, from power and water to municipal services, are no longer reliable. NewFuture is our answer: not fighting that system, but building a small alternative that works.
By sharing what makes sense to share and producing our own energy, water and, over time, food, we aim for a high quality of life at a lower cost of living, with more free time, more security and real neighbours.
What the village offers
Private stands
A private stand of about 375–430 m² for each household, with room for a tiny house, a deck, a garden and a rain tank. Every home faces north.
Community centre
Dining and a kitchen for 30, a lounge and library, laundry, yoga and fitness studios, and a lapa with a braai. A place to relax and connect.
Off-grid by design
Solar on the carport and centre roofs with a central battery, water from a shared borehole, and rainwater for the gardens.
Shared, not duplicated
Electric cars, e-bikes, a trailer, tools and a workshop. Use what you need and pay for what you use.
Storage and work
A 6 × 3 m lock-up for every household, a shared workshop, and offices with co-working space.
Safe and car-free
An electric perimeter fence and an access-controlled gate. Cars park at the entrance, so the centre stays safe for children.

How it grows
Each phase is lived in before the next one is paid for, so the village proves itself as it grows.
Phase 1 · Base camp
Rent a serviced stand for your tent or caravan. Four containers provide power and water, a shared kitchen, a workshop and bathrooms. Live on site while you build your home.
Phase 2 · Tiny houses
Each household builds or brings its tiny house: a container, a trailer home or a natural build. Stands get their utility connections, rain tanks and gardens.
Phase 3 · Community centre
The permanent two-storey centre, the lapa, the second carport row, the workshop, offices and storage units.

Who is behind it
NewFuture is being started by Johann and Saskia. Johann has spent his career in solar energy and electrical measurement, in South Africa and Germany. Together they will develop the property and run it at first, then hand more control to committed members step by step as the community grows.
Questions
What will it cost?
Pricing is not set yet. Each household will pay a monthly stand rental and a levy that covers the shared infrastructure, with power and water billed on what you actually use. Our goal is a better quality of life at a lower cost than an average household. Register your interest and tell us what would feel realistic for you.
When can I move in?
Phase 1 opens once the land, the water and the zoning are secured. People who register will hear first.
Can I own my home?
Yes. Your movable tiny home is yours. The stands are rented from NewFuture (Pty) Ltd, and committed residents will later be able to buy into the company.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. The centre of the village is car-free, with a play area and open lawns, and the whole site is fenced and gated. We decided against a pool because of the cost and the risk to small children.
Do I have to help with the work?
Residents do as much of the work as possible. Each resident gives 8 hours a month to shared projects, or pays the equivalent.
Do I need to speak Afrikaans?
Yes. Afrikaans is the everyday language of the community, so fluent Afrikaans is one of our membership criteria.
What about growing food?
Herb and tea gardens and an orchard are part of the village. A separate agricultural area for larger-scale food growing will be planned next.
